Meetings

On May 7, 2011 we experienced an eclectic and energizing evening, which included a special private performance by Grammy Award-Winning and legendary artist Sugar Blue, to benefit the LYDIA Home for abused and neglected children.

During projectMUSIC™ 2011, using the power and passion of music, we raised enough money to send the 40 children of LYDIA to overnight camp twice. The camps deliver a life-changing experience where the kids are stretched; mentally, physically and spiritually.  The bottom line...they absolutely love it!!!

QUESTION:
WHAT DO THE ROLLING STONES, BOB DYLAN, ERIC CLAPTON, MUDDY WATTERS, FATS DOMINO, RAY CHARLES, JERRY LEE LEWIS, B.B. KING AND PRINCE ALL HAVE IN COMMON?

ANSWER:
THEY HAVE ALL PLAYED WITH SUGAR BLUE!!!

Grammy Award-Winning harmonica virtuoso Sugar Blue is not your typical bluesman. Called by Mick Jagger "a strange and talented artist", Sugar Blue has played with a legendary, diverse and stunning list of artists including the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Prince, Muddy Watters, and Ray Charles, just to name a few.  Wow.

And his story is an amazing one.  Beginning his career as a street musician, Blue would go on to record with the Rolling Stones, where his work can be heard on the three albums including Some Girls, Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You. He appeared live with the Stones on numerous occasions and was offered a spot indefinitely, but he turned it down.

Blue's decision was spurred by his desire to work with and learn from the masters of blues harmonica. Thus he came to Chicago and proceeded to sit in with the likes of Big Walter Horton, James Cotton, Junior Wells and Willie Dixon before forming his own band in 1983.  He has been touring worldwide ever since.  He received a Grammy Award for his work on the album, Blues Explosion, recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

His performances have been described as "simply stunning" and projectMUSIC™ was an opportunity to hear one of the great artists of our time in the intimate, bohemian setting of Catalyst Ranch - the perfect eclectic atmosphere for this special night.
